Training and Workshop on “Water Budgeting for Efficient Water Resources Management in Watersheds"

Training and workshop on “Water Budgeting for Efficient Water Resources Management in Watersheds” was organized by CAAST-CSAWM, MPKV, Rahuri at Dr. ASCAET, Central campus, MPKV, Rahuri during September, 20-21, 2019. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. S. B. Nandgude, Head, SWCE, MPKV, Rahuri. Dr. M. G. Shinde, Co-Principal Investigator, CAAST-CSAWM and organizing secretary of programme welcomed and introduced all dignitaries presented for training and Workshop and gave brief introduction on different topics of Water Budgeting for Efficient Water Resources Management inWatersheds to be covered during the training and workshop. He guided all participants about importance of water, its social, economic, political meanings, importance of water budgeting and the Implementation of water budgeting programme at ground level. During this two days training and workshop different topics were discussed such as Promoting water budgeting through water stewardship, Integrating climate change concerns in water resources planning and management, Importance and challenges in water budgeting in watershed projects, Participatory methods and tools of water budgeting. 
The resource persons for training programme were, Mr. Eshwar Kale, Sr. Scientist, (WOTR),Pune Dr. SachinKamble, AGM, NABARD, Maharashtra Regional Office, Pune, Mr. Umesh Lagad, Managing Trustee, SEVA, Ahmednagar, Maharashtra, Mr. YugandharMandavkar, Chief Executive, Yugman Associates, Pune.  
Participants
Overall 50 participants including scientists, faculty members, officers and students (M.Sc./M.Tech and Ph.D.) in agriculture have participated in the training and workshop.
Outcome:
During the training, participants learned the following topics which can be helpful for their research projects
1.    Concept of water budgeting and water stewardship.
2.    Integrating climate change concerns in water resources planning and management.
3.    Climate change mitigation strategies for Indian agriculture
4.    Participatory methods and tools of water budgeting
5.    Importance and challenges in water budgeting in watershed projects
Also, during the training, the syllabus of soil and water conservation engineering courses developed for PG Diploma in CSA was discussed.
